Dental Bridges

Dental bridges can be standard, cantilever, or Maryland-style, among other variations. The most frequent type of bridges, traditional bridges, require securing the bridge to the teeth on either side of the gap. Similar bridges called cantilever bridges are best for patients who just have one lost tooth because they are only supported by one neighboring tooth. Maryland bridges, on the other hand, are a more conservative choice since they use a metal or porcelain framework that is attached to the back of the surrounding teeth.

Getting a dental bridge usually necessitates two or more visits to the prosthodontist or dentist. The dentist will examine the patient's teeth and gums at the initial appointment to decide whether they are a good candidate for a bridge. If so, the dentist will make imprints of the patient's teeth and send them to a dental lab so that a bridge can be constructed specifically for them. The patient will return for a second session once the bridge is completed, and the dentist will then prepare the surrounding teeth by removing some enamel to make space for the bridge. The bridge will then be fitted and functionally adjusted. After the procedure, patients could feel a little sensitive and uncomfortable, but this should pass in a few days.

Dental bridge maintenance resembles taking care of natural teeth. Regular dental checkups and cleanings should also be scheduled for patients, in addition to regular brushing and flossing. Dental bridges can provide patients a stunning, useful smile that they can be proud of and can last for many years with proper care.
